Annual Enrollment for Medicare and Individual Health Insurance Plans is here. Annual Enrollment is the time of year that you can review and make changes to your current health insurance coverage for the upcoming year. Any changes that are made during this time will be effective on January 1st.
For Medicare, the Annual Enrollment Period is October 15 through December 7. For Individual Plans, the Annual Enrollment Period is November 1 through January 15. As you prepare for Annual Enrollment, here are some things to consider that should help make this process a little easier.
Medicare plans may make a variety of changes from premium to formulary list to accepted providers. You will be receiving a document called the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from your current health insurance plan that will detail the changes to your current plan. You will want to read this carefully. You will also be receiving lots of mailings from other insurance companies during this time.
Here are a few steps to help your process:
- Is there a premium change to your current coverage?
- Are your medications covered on your current plan next year?
- How has your plan worked for you this past year? Has it covered your medications well? Are you taking a new medication? Have you had a change in health conditions?
- Did you receive a mailing from another company that looked interesting?
If these questions prompted more questions from you, you may want to review your plan. Please reach out to us for a review. We can help!
Individual ACA Plans can make changes to their plans for the upcoming year as well as premiums, coverage areas and plan details.
Here are a few steps to help your process:
- Review how your plan has worked over the past year.
- Would you like to find a plan with a different deductible?
- Any changes to your health, doctor network or medications?
- If you are receiving subsidy assistance, do you expect a change in income for next year?
