Medicare Supplement benefits are stable by design. The only annual variation is the Part B deductible, currently $257, which Plans G and N do not cover. This deductible is expected to increase slightly in 2026.
However, plan premiums are climbing faster than in past years. Where 5–8% increases were common, we’re now seeing 10%+ hikes. Why?
- Higher medical inflation
- Increased healthcare utilization post-COVID
- An aging population on Medicare Supplements
- A shrinking pool of Medicare Supplement enrollees as more choose Medicare Advantage plans
So what can you do about rising premiums? Unfortunately, switching from one Medicare Supplement to another usually requires medical underwriting—and approval isn’t guaranteed. Still, we’ve had many successful conversations with clients and helped them save money by switching plans.
Alternatively, you can explore Medicare Advantage plans. The window to make this change is October 15 – December 7. With $0 premiums and added benefits like dental, vision, and hearing aid coverage, Medicare Advantage plans may be worth considering.
