As we move into the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period for 2025, it’s more important than ever to pay close attention to your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from your health insurance plan. The ANOC is a document that both Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D plans send to their enrollees each year, typically in September, outlining any changes for the upcoming year.  These changes can impact the plan premium, deductibles, copayments and coinsurance for medical services. Additionally, prescription coverage can change, meaning medications you currently take might have different coverage or cost. Plans may also introduce new benefits and services, offering better ways to manage your health. Keeping up with these changes helps ensure that your plan continues to meet your needs.

The health insurance industry is evolving, and in 2025, we’re anticipating significant changes due to legislation which will eliminate the coverage gap, also known as the donut hole. Due to these changes, you can expect higher standalone Part D costs, and prescription drug costs are anticipated to rise. As Part D premiums increase, those with a Part D Late Enrollment Penalty will also see a rise in their penalty, since it is based on the national average Part D premium. It’s important to understand how these changes will affect your budget and by reviewing your ANOC early you can evaluate whether your current plan still meets your needs or if it’s time to explore other options during the open enrollment period. It is important to consider both your health needs and budget when deciding if your plan offers the best value.

Navigating health insurance changes can be complex, and you don’t have to do it alone. Seeking guidance from OHB can help you understand your options and make informed decisions. Taking the time to review your ANOC is a proactive 1st step in managing your healthcare needs. With the right information, you can ensure your plan continues to serve you well, providing peace of mind and maintaining your health in 2025 and beyond.
